SC Millenium Review of (4)The Lost Temple:

Map Name: The Lost Temple
Map Size: 128x128
Map Tileset: Jungle Terrain
Maximum Amount of Players: 4
Download: Came With StarCraft

General Description:

This map is congruent. If you notice if you split it diagonally it is the same as the other side. It contains good amount of expansions lots of air space and it gives you the the chance of making a good defense as well as offense. The map isn't too complex but isn't simple at the same time. It has the right amount of ground space without having too much.

Good Points:

  • The Map had enough ridges to make it interesing plus it has enough areas to make a good ground assualt. (generally a simple map [but not too simple=)]).
  • This map was a great for air but it was also great for ground. I hate maps that were just made for air attacks or just made for ground.
  • Some GREAT strategies involve ground units and this map works perfectly for them.
  • This map was generally better for protoss or terran. (I felt). The ridges didn't allow you to make rows of hives so you could mass produce also putting seige tanks on the ridges and protoss cannons made a good defense/offense.
  • A great strategy to use (Created by .phobos he deserves ALL Credit) here is to make around 6 SCV's. Start building a barracks. Take an SCV down to the enemy base at that same time build marines. Then in the enemy's base build a bunker. Put the marine in the bunker. At this time the enemy should be making their barracks, or gateway just depending. Works great but i'm really bad at it so i've only gotten it to work once.
  • The map wasn't clusterd which is a really positive thing about the map. This map involves a lot of moving your units to find minerals. Generally this map gives newbs the idea/concept of moving, for minerals instead of staying there (like those 3v3 MONEY MAPS).
Bad Points:

  • The map is over played. I know it's a GREAT map but there are 50 othermaps out there (way more than 50) and everyone is now playing: Lost Temple, Big Game Hunters, and those money maps. It gets boring. Then when you try to use a different map no one joins because they don't know the map. The game of starcraft was meant to be played on totally different maps not on the same one.
Conclusion:

Even though this is a great map it is way overplayed. I think a next favorite by players will be cauldron, Tribes, Wheel of War, and maybe three kingdoms. Just some guesses. Everyone should play this map a lot (especially newbies) it helps learn alot rather than Money Maps. So overall I give this map an 6/10.

Final Opinion: 6 of 10
